Process:
First, our group was struggling to find any facts or quotes about how complements can be an argument for communication that creates peace. Then, Joe brought a book from his house that was about how complementing can affect people in society and we found a quote from the text. Ken Blanchard, the author of of the book was a famous social and management expert who wrote number of books in different languages. We have read several quotes and philosophies and came up with the most main important quote, same as the title of the book.
Quote:
"Complements make whales dance."
Analysis:
We really liked this quote for several reasons. First of all, we really liked the denotation of it. The denotation just means that complements make whales dance. However, the deeper meaning such as complementing and positive sayings can make a huge difference, or even miracles. Importantly, the word "whales" create the whole theme and mood to the quote. Considering how big a whale can be, it is almost impossible to dance in the water. But something as small as a compliment from anyone can make something so big dance.
In addition, the whale can also be a metaphor of several things. For example, the people who are needed to be cared, who are hurt, who are very difficult and touch can even be cared and loved with complements. These arguments and connotations make the quote extraordinary. People can communicate by complementing and positive sayings that can even make the whales dance.
