Post Example - Hug

Process:
It was hard to find a good video that involves hugging. There were many videos that showed people hugging, but we thought that it wouldn't be a good example to show because it didn't really have any metaphoric meaning or something that symbolizes it. Then we found a news video that involves how a little babies were impacted the small touch.

Analysis: 

First, we were amazed about how this video has deep meanings with our topic, hugging. It was astonishing how small thing, like a hug can do such a great job. In this video, a hug could save a the twin's life when she was about to die. The denotation of the video is just the twins' survivals with the idea from a nurse using another twin baby to helps to cure the other baby. The connotation is that by this miracle, people can actually feel touched physically and spiritually  This connotes because even though the hospital didn't know what to do to save the baby, the little touch could warm her up physically and could give courage to the baby which saved her. Also, this touch showed the connection between the two sisters and that connection stays even when they are older.   

Post Example - Dancing

Process: 
Our group was struggling on how communicating by dancing with people creates peace. Then we searched people trying to learn other people's cultural dancing and we found many pictures. We chose this one because we thought that this picture really showed the communication between the people teach and learning. Even though maybe they don't speak the same language. Even though they have different cultures and they look different they can communicate and teach/learn together.

Analysis: 

This picture is a perfect example communication by dancing. The foreigners were visited Ghana and were trying to learn their cultural dance. As shown in the picture, all the people were smiling and entertaining themselves. This explains how people are having fun and staying peaceful by learning dance and dancing together. In addition, even though their cultures and looks were different, they still tried to learn/teach the dance. two things that make peace between the teachers and the students is for the students to understand the teacher and have a good time. If they are not having a good time then they will not learn as much. the same thing happens if the students do not understand, because then they will not have that much fun and they will not lear as much. In addition, if they weren't entertaining, there could be some arguments or fights that cause them into conflict. In addition, the buildings in picture were very old and broken and the people were not wearing shoes, or really nice clothes. Even though they were in a very bad situation, they were trying their best to stay happy. 

The connotation of the picture is that you don't have to be rich or popular to harmonize the society. It's also important to recognize that people in different societies can come together and enjoy dancing. 

Post Example - Dancing

Process: 
We were struggling to find a quote because there were many different quotes. After a while we decided that this quote by Martha Graham shows the deepest meaning of commutation. It says that dancing is the hidden language. Without dancing there is no communication between people. If there is communication then there is peace.

Analysis: 
This is a perfect quote that describes dancing as communication, not just  romantic or fun movements. We think the quote means that dancing is communication only through body language. Also, it carries a message through your movement. We think that if there was no dancing, then people could not communicate with each other as well as they do with dancing. Everyone has a soul, and in society, everyone has a right to express themselves and be socialized so people can all be part and have fun together, instead of arguing and fighting. Even competitive dances, you are still communicating peace through your movement, even though you are competing against people, because your are having fun with the people around you, or if you are by yourself. This quote is denoting that every people have some hidden dance in themselves. Even if some can't dance, they can still enjoy it. The connotation is that if there is no dancing, then it would lead to not having other things as well. For example, there would be no joy. Dance expresses joy and culture. So if there was no dance the cultures would not be as deep as they are now. Also, there would be no way to celebrate something. It has been used to celebrate births, weddings, sometimes at funerals as well. These deep meanings were hidden to most of people.

Post Example - Hug

Process: 

The group was looking for an image that describes how hugging can make peace between people. Importantly, hugging can be understood by everyone. It is a universal sign of friendship and kindness. First, we were looking for pictures that aren't directly about hugging. However, it was hard to find any picture of metaphors that symbolizes hugging and we found the two animals hugging each other that really stood out to us.

Analysis: 

First, we found a very good example of how hugging can represent kindness and friendship. This picture shows that it doesn't matter to be friends and stay peaceful if they are people, animals, or any other living things. Furthermore, it also amazed us how different the animals are in the picture and they are still at peace each other. This symbolizes that race or culture is not important to people or any other living things to stay in touch with good relationships. The denotation in the picture is simply different animals hugging. However, the connotation has deeper meaning. First, the animals in the picture both look very sad and depressed. This is one of the reasons why hugging can make people connected with good relationships. They were hugging, comforting each other and making one another happier. So no matter how different people are and how well they know each other, they will always remain close. This picture is a perfect example showing even animals would hug even though they were very different.  

Post Example - Hug

Process: 
Our group was looking for a quote that explains how hugging can make communication that promotes peace between people. Then, we found a personal quote by Hugh Jackman and it correlated to our topic.

When I come home, my daughter will run to the door and give me a big hug, and everything that's happened that day just melts away.

Analysis:
This quote correlates to our topic, communication promotes peace for 2 reasons. First of all, he said that everything that's happened that day melts away. The word "everything" makes the audience to imagine no matter how bad things happened between people, it would always be better to take a moment and forget things. This quote, made us interested because one of the way to get back into good relationships are to take a moment and forget them. By forgetting the bad moments or accident can also be useful to forgive. The connotation in the quote would be hugs or little other things are needed in life to be at peace. A hug is the equivalent of being happy and keeping the good relationships between people. Also, we correlated this to the older times because the aim for the women was to be pretty so they can get a rich man. For the men the aim was to be rich so they could get a pretty girl. Their goal in life back then was to have a nice family. This could correlate to our topic because then and now when the father comes home from work, even if he had a bad day the children make it good again and they feel joyful at home. This is peace between the family and the hug makes it all happen.

Post Example - Complement

Process: 
Our group was looking for any audio or video from youtube that directly correlates to how communication by complementing creates peace. However, we were struggling to find a video so we decided to find a video about "The Ugly Duckling" that we also used as our image argument. The ugly duckling is a very good idea to use as complement for various reasons. First of all, it shows perfect examples about how complementing can affect people as the ugly duckling was. In addition, it shows the opposite of it as well. The ugly duckling was affected by the others' harmful sayings.

Analysis:

Importantly, as we already described how the ugly duckling was affected by harmful sayings. Again, we realized how complimenting can make people feel happy and encourage them. In the video, the other ducklings weren't being friendly to the ugly duckling and said bad things that made him sad. This really correlates to our topic because the ugly duckling was affected by how the others were treating and saying things to him. In addition, in the video, the parents of the ugly duckling were shouting and arguing between him. This really influenced him and made him sad and depressed. So we learned that it's also important for surroundings to complement and be friendly because it can influence other people in society and breaks the peaceful mood.

Post Example - Dancing

Process: 
Our group when on youtube and searched flash mobs. We thought of a flash mob for peace and communication because there is a lot of communication and planing involved. everyone has to work together because if they don't then the mob does not look that good. When we were looking through the mods, Szofi said that she knew the one that we have. So when we looked at it then we saw that they worked together really well and it is a really good example of communication.






Analysis: This video connects to communication and peace. To make a good flash mob you need to first, teach the people the choreography which takes lots of communication and patience. After that when you already know the dance you have to perform it. In the performance you have to make a connection with the audiences. Which connects to our topic peace. Another thing that communicates peace is that there was different ages and races in the performance. This shows peace because none of people are excluded and anyone could join and enjoy a flash mob. Also, during the performance, the dancers were always smiling and looked happy even though the movements were't easy to follow. Importantly, this shows that they had entertainments during the dancing out, not just to show the audience the dance. The denotation is a flash mob of Beyoncé performing in a mall. The connotation is that no matter how different people are, they could enjoy themselves.
